2017 Moth Worlds - Moth Speed Uncovered

With the 2017 Moth world championship starting Tuesday, C-Tech’s Tim Willetts takes time to reflect on changes in Moth class rig design and development over the past six years. A lot has happened behind the scenes that is giving the top sailors the edge by staying ahead.

There have been two clear periods of development where ideas were explored and the performance of the class improved. Willetts who is passionate about the Moth says it is a unique and exciting development class to work with. 
‘Because the Moth is so sensitive to weight and small design changes, it has been an excellent opportunity to work with the world’s best and learn. 13/13 races won with a C-Tech Boom.
10/13 races won with a C-Tech Mast.
11/13 races won with C-Tech wing tubes.
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th overall with C-Tech boom.
2nd, 3rd 4th overall with C-Tech masts.

New C-Tech Bent Moth Boom

Moth Bent Boom-708The latest C-Tech Bent Moth Boom supplied for boats configured with a low mast post with a 15° bend. We also have a boom with an 8-10° bend suitable for the Mach 2 configuration. The Mainsheet attachment incorporates the vang attachment  with no through bar required.


Moth sailor Scott Babbage wins Sail Sydney

2014 Sail Sydney Scott Babbage has recently converted to a C-Tech Moth rig and has taken out Sail Sydney as part of tuning his boat ready for the Worlds next month in Sorrento.

Chris Rashley 2nd at the Moth Worlds

Congratulations to C-Tech's 4 time European Moth champion Chris Rashley for finishing 2nd at the Moth Worlds.  These finished recently at Hayling Island Sailing Club in the UK.

A lot of rig development has been carried out with Chris and the UK Moth squad, the results are showing with 5 out of the top 10 using a C-Tech mast and boom.

Moth Worlds in HawaiiThe 2013 Moth Worlds are currently under way in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Chris Rashley sailing with a C-Tech mast came second this week at the pre Worlds regatta.

Third Championship win for Chris Rashley & C-Tech at the Moth Europeans 2013

Chris Rashley winner of the 2013 Moth EuropeansAt the 2013 Moth Europeans in Sicily Chris Rashley has taken overall honours winning his third European Championship.

Chris sails the Exocet Moth, the result of three years design during which Ellway Aero-Hydrodynamics have worked closely with C-Tech developing the winning rig.

Chris is also the UK National Moth champion and ranks 7th in the World.


Moth Europeans 2011 won with a C-Tech mast

Chris Rashley 2011 European winner Congratulations to British Sailor Chris Rashley who has won the 2011 Moth European Championship in Germany with a C-Tech mast.
